Massive Tsunami Strikes Pacific – Trump, Oprah, and Global Leaders Respond

A powerful 8.8-magnitude earthquake struck near Severo-Kurilsk, Russia, triggering widespread tsunami warnings across the Pacific. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) confirmed that tsunami waves of over five feet reached Kahului, Maui, prompting immediate evacuations and significant highway congestion.

Hawaii Governor Josh Green urged residents to seek higher ground, warning that “waves can wrap around the islands.” Emergency shelters were opened as Hawaii faced one of its most serious natural threats in recent years. Former President Donald Trump posted a public message on X and Truth Social, stating: “Due to a massive earthquake in the Pacific Ocean, a Tsunami Warning is in effect for Hawaii.

A Tsunami Watch is in effect for Alaska and the Pacific Coast of the United States. Japan is also in the path. Please visit tsunami.gov for the latest. STAY STRONG AND STAY SAFE.” His message came as waves began to reach Hawaii, with tsunami alerts issued for parts of California, Oregon, and Alaska. In a reported act of support, Oprah Winfrey was said to have opened a private road on her Maui property to aid evacuations.

Although this specific claim has not been independently confirmed by major media, her spokesperson reportedly told CNN that local authorities were managing the flow of traffic for safety. Meanwhile, traffic jams affected major roads like Interstate H-1, and aerial patrols were seen along California’s coast to broadcast emergency alerts. Nearly 27 million people along California’s coastline were on alert, with emergency systems activated from Moss Landing to San Diego.

The tsunami’s reach extended across the Pacific: Japan ordered evacuations for nearly two million residents, and tsunami watches were issued in the Philippines, China, Chile, and Mexico. In Severo-Kurilsk, a state of emergency was declared as waves pushed containers inland and damaged boats and docks. Authorities across the Pacific Rim continue to monitor the situation as the aftermath of this major seismic event unfolds.
